  1. We did that at my church too when I was a kid, a red rose if your mother was living and white if she was not. I’d forgotten all about that! Great memory and beautiful photo of that rose.

    While growing up in the Philippines, we celebrated Parents’ Day at this time of year. We observed almost the same tradition, (wearing a two-flower corsage). Red for the living parent and white for the deceased one. Wow, same tradition from half way around the world! Amazing! (Filipino Catholic)
