What Kind of Plant is This?
While in the Ft. Myers area of Florida the end of January, we saw trees in a grocery store parking lot. On the trees were these “blooming” seed pods. Does anyone know what they are?

I have no idea, but I’d like to know too.
I wish I knew also. Hubby didn’t know either. You might try the botanical garden. They might have an idea.
That is an interesting looking plant. I will revisit this post in case someone knows what it is.
Marta told me how she searched and searched trying to figure out this plant/tree. While in San Diego, I did let Jan know to take a look at this post. Since she lives in Florida and may know what it is. She may forget, so you might want to PM or email her.
Wow! I have no clue???
Deb, I think this may be a Mahogany tree. I had accounts all over Florida and they use them in parking lots and as shade trees.
Deborah responds: Thanks, Janie! I’ll check that out!
I’ve seen and read about many trees and about planting them but I have never seen this plant.
Let me know when you get the answer.
