Funny Story
We are in Evora today. And were ‘hustled’ for lunch. Funny, story.
We were looking for a place to eat and poked our heads into what looked like a typical bar with the restaurant in the back.
It looked very crowded, so we decided to move on. But the owner came and literally grabbed my elbow telling us that there was plenty of room. Then he shoved the people in the bar out of the way and ushered us to be back of the room where there was a nice quiet restaurant area with about 8 tables.
He sent a woman who spoke English over to us, and I commented that I thought it was too hot in there, so she turned on the air-conditioning and said, “you will be cold soon.”
The waiter brought bread, olives, sausage and cheese to the table (without our asking for it).
Then we ordered. My dish was a delicious grilled pork (best I’ve had yet). Dan’s was a salted cod which hadn’t been soaked long enough in milk to remove the saltiness. He could not eat it.
When the bill came, they had charged us 7€ for the bread, olives, sausage, & cheese.
Lesson learned.
